How live betting works
In-play markets are repriced as new information arrives during an event. Prices can move quickly, and markets may temporarily disappear or be suspended around goals, penalties, reviews, breaks or other significant moments.
Why a market gets suspended
Suspension gives the trading system time to process a material event and prevent bets being accepted on stale prices. A suspended market may reopen at different odds after the event is confirmed.
Live-betting timeline
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Event action | Something relevant occurs in the match. |
| Data update | The operator receives/validates updated event data. |
| Suspend/reprice | Affected markets can be paused and recalculated. |
| Reopen | Markets return with new prices if still relevant. |
| Bet confirmation | Accepted bets are recorded at the confirmed price. |
Latency and time pressure
A delayed stream or data feed can mean the event on screen is behind the operator's pricing feed. Do not treat a visible delay as a guaranteed betting edge. Time pressure can also make impulsive staking more likely.
Decision-risk checklist
- Set a total stake limit before the event.
- Do not increase stakes to recover a previous live bet.
- Expect odds to change before confirmation.
- Stop if the interface or stream is unstable.
Current Brazil status
Live betting is included in the current Brazil prohibition on fixed-odds betting.
